COVID-19 Social Distancing Project <\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I am doing a little project while I have to social distance. I photographed people from my property & around my neighbourhood respecting the Local Social Distance Rules. I wanted to try something different. Using Film not Digital and developing the images myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I purchased the chemicals and developing tank from a local Camera Store.    Ivan\u2019s Camera<\/a><\/strong>, Moncton New Brunswick, Canada<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am using old film that has been taking up space in my freezer. I have about thirty rolls of Kodak Black & White Film all cold stored in a freezer, since purchasing, all expired for over ten plus years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kodak Plus-X Pan 125 Expired 02\/2004

Kodak T-Max 100 Expired 10\/2007

Kodak T-Max 3200 Expired 03\/2010<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes I could have taken the images with one of my digital cameras, and achieved better results quicker, but with all this time on my hands, it is fun to see what will happen with the old film. I am enjoying the experience of learning to develop Black & White film. I will purchase new film once the expired rolls have been used, I am sure new film will give much better results. Roll #1<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The images posted are from my first roll of Tri-X Pan 400 Expired 01\/2004. Images captured 04\/2020. Shoot with a Pentax K1000 Images shoot at box speed and developed per normal recommend times. I will experiment with different ISO\u2019s and development times to see the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Roll Results. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grain is very pronounced, the images are showing their age<\/em>, but overall, I was pleased to see that the film was still able to capture an image.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I will post more from the other rolls in time to see which rolls have held up better over time. I will select a few images from each roll to post.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The images posted are from my second roll of T-MAX 100 Expired 10\/2007. Images captured 04\/2020. Shoot with a Nikon F3 Images shoot at box speed and developed per normal recommend times. I will experiment with different ISO\u2019s and development times to see the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ROLL #<\/strong>3<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The images posted are from my second roll of Kodak Plus-X Pan 125 Expired 02\/2004. Images captured 04\/2020. Shoot with a Nikon FE2 Images shoot at box speed and developed per normal recommend times. I will experiment with different ISO\u2019s and development times to see the results.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third Roll Results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grain is still very pronounced, the images are showing their age<\/em>, but overall, I was pleased to see that the film was still able to capture an image. I feel the T-MAX 100 has performed the best so far, the Plus-X Pan 125<\/strong><\/strong> was not consistent and the film had what appeared to to dust in the emulsion of the film but only part of the roll. white spots can be seen on the images. This might have been something that I did when the roll was developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
